All this week, Dave O has your chance to win a $50 gift card to Habanero’s, home of the flying pepper in Lee’s Summit!
Patio season has begun! Stop by for Cinco De Mayo and enjoy weekly specials all year long! Habanero’s opened its doors in 1996 as a vision of owner Joe Lange. Joe, an avid pilot and architect, saw a need for a first-class, authentic Mexican dining experience in Lee’s Summit, MO. In an effort to create a unique, eye-catching theme for the business, the idea of mounting a real plane on the roof soon became a great idea.
With the purchase of an authentic Piper Tomahawk airplane, Joe researched how to go about anchoring a plane to a building. After hearing of a McDonald’s in Arkansas that had an airplane on its roof, Joe jumped in his plane and paid them a visit. Joe engineered how to do it and soon made the airplane on the roof a reality. Now the aeronautical theme is carried throughout the restaurant from bar drinks to menus and wall decor. Habanero’s is now known by its mascot, “Habey,” and is the home of the flying pepper.
